The thinnest of threads

Stepping out Sunday
though nation is mourning, we
put best foot forward...

Today before posting my daily haiku on Instagram I was shocked to learn of yet another terror attack in the capital city London, 7 slaughtered and 48 injured, this only days after the Manchester killings. At the very moment I was viewing this on-line a pigeon, in flight, slammed into my window causing me to feel a sudden fear, heightening the fear- feeling for those innocent people... Later the prime-minister Theresa May declared on a news bulletin that "enough is enough" and that new measures must be taken to counter this....  As she counted out four ways these measures must take place I was feeling a sense of frustration that no doubt countless millions of others must feel in the face of these senseless acts of violence. I was thinking what can I as one person do?

My small act of posting one image on Instagram with the above haiku seemed so insignificant and I felt the message of "stepping out regardless of fear" was not getting through!  So I attached a comment calling on all #artistsforlove to step-up all creative acts of love and kindness as a message to combat hate. I'm not really that concerned about the number of likes on IG but again I felt that my small endorsement of love for fellow humans in the face of terrorism was but the smallest of drops in a mighty ocean and the thinnest of threads in the human life tapestry but then on pressing the hashtag for #artistsforlove I found that a previous posting promoting togetherness was among the top nine posts! This absolutely made my day that in some small way and through the thinnest of threads, which incidentally can by the strongest, that I am contributing!

I so admire artists who use their talents and skills to make a statement for love, world peace and togetherness.

For those of you who haven't seen this take a peek!

Dear Sue, my heart has been heavy with this news, on top of grappling with the politics here, and I search for small ways that I too can make a difference. Your haiku and artmaking do make a difference, more than you could ever know. I for one, step out with you and renew my daily vow, inspired by Diane Ackerman, "I will not dishonor my soul with hatred, but offer myself humbly and a guardian of nature, as a healer of misery, as a messenger of wonder, as an architect of peace." Thank you for being here this haiku weekend and sharing your heart's passion and grief. And for putting your best foot forward... may we all step forward with such love and intent. XOXOXO

I made art for the tragedy in Orlando. This morning, before I got up, I was thinking of something I could paint to symbolize how this terror must end. I just could not bring an image to mind. Its too awful. Too hateful.

Haiku my Heart # 53

Love Lifts the Spirit Promises of spring, being satiated with love, lifts wintered spirits. Sending to Recuerda mi Corazon

Don't Blink

What rate ticketh clock? I blinked and a whole year passed or, was I dreaming? Somehow I seemed to have lost a whole year, it appears what I thought happened last year happened the year before! My sister who is twelve years my senior warned me about this ~ "wait until you get to my age then time really does fly"! Of course we'll never be able to confer! Still, living in the moment can feel like forever, because it is, I'm trying to make each beautiful moment count! Sharing with Haiku my Heart Recuerda mi Corazon
